SITE-508 · WEEKLY CHALLENGE

Spot the fault

Every Monday a new site scene. Three real installation faults are hidden in it, plus a couple of things that look wrong but are fine. Tap where you think each fault is. Fewer misses and less time earn more points, and every answer comes with the reason and the regulation.

Faults in this scene

How it works

Tap or click anywhere on the scene. A green ring means a real fault. A blue dashed ring means it looks odd but is correct, and costs you a miss. A red cross is a miss.

Scoring: 300 for three faults, minus 15 per miss and 50 per hint, plus a time bonus up to 120 in the first two minutes. Finish this week's live scene to keep your streak.

All weeks

Past weeks are open for practice. A new scene unlocks every Monday at 00:00 Dubai time.
Learn from real snags. Every scene is built from faults that turn up again and again at authority inspections, handover and testing.
Regional rules. UAE scenes follow BS 7671, DEWA practice, BS 5839-1 and the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code. NZ scenes follow AS/NZS 3000.
Share your score. Post your result to LinkedIn or WhatsApp and challenge your team to beat it.

About this lab: Spot the Fault Weekly Challenge

Spot the Fault Weekly Challenge

A new MEP site scene every Monday: find three hidden installation faults, learn the BS 7671, DEWA, BS 5839 or AS/NZS 3000 rule behind each, keep your streak.

Topics you can explore

  • Distribution board, riser and switchroom snags
  • Fire alarm siting to BS 5839-1
  • Bathroom zones, EV charging and earthing
  • Generator, busbar riser and transformer room checks
  • AS/NZS 3000 switchboards in New Zealand

Practical engineering example

Week 1 shows a final distribution board: a spare way with no blanking plate, two different sized conductors in one MCB terminal and no circuit chart. Each one is a common snag at authority inspection and handover.

Developed by Eng. Mannan Maqsood. Verify against current project requirements and the applicable authority rules.

Standards and regions covered

Built around DEWA and ADDC (TAQA Distribution) inspection and energisation, DCD inspections and approvals, BS 7671 Part 6, AS/NZS 3000 Section 8 and AS/NZS 3017. Engineers use it on projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, and in Auckland, the rest of New Zealand and Australia. Always confirm the edition your authority or client has adopted before relying on a result.
