Permit to Work & Site Safety Lab SITE-501
Permit selector for 15 site activities, 5x5 risk assessment, LOTO and prove-dead simulator, hot work permit check and a 3D/4D SIMOPS site day.
Every MEPVirtual module in one place, grouped by discipline. Open “Explore inside” on any card to see its tools and topics before you open it.
MEPVirtual is a free set of interactive engineering labs, calculators and reference tools for electrical, ELV, HVAC, plumbing and fire systems, built from real project work in the Gulf, Australia and New Zealand. Nothing is locked, nothing needs an account, and every lab shows its formulas, its assumptions and its limits rather than returning a number you cannot check.
Most modules run in 2D, 3D and 4D, and several go to 5D with cost and carbon, so you can watch a system behave, step through an assembly sequence or play a fault out in milliseconds instead of reading about it. Coverage runs from switchgear design and IEC 61439 verification, busbar risers, wiring diagrams, cable and containment sizing, earthing and lightning protection, generators, UPS, central battery systems and solar PV, through HVAC plant, diagnostics and commissioning, to CCTV, BMS, structured cabling, public address and fire alarm design.
Authority routes are covered for DEWA, SEWA, ADDC, AADC, EtihadWE, Kahramaa and SEC, alongside AS/NZS, IEC, BS EN, NFPA and ASHRAE practice. The Exam Lab carries timed licensing practice for DEWA, SEWA, Abu Dhabi, EtihadWE, Australian AS/NZS 3000, NZ EWRB registration and CPEng readiness, and the Copilot answers from a library of engineering questions and real site fault cases. Start with a module card, open “Explore inside” to see what a lab contains, or ask the Copilot if you are not sure where to begin.

Size a riser to IEC 61439-6 or AS/NZS 61439.6 with derating, voltage drop and fault level, in 2D, 3D, 4D and 5D.
Riser sizing is where cheap mistakes get expensive fast - built so support spacing and current capacity get checked before the busbar is on order.
Cable and breaker selector, switchboard builder and an independent regulations reference for DEWA, SEWA, Abu Dhabi and EtihadWE.
DEWA submissions get rejected for the same recurring reasons - this exists so cable and breaker selection matches the authority's own rules the first time.
Eight panel checklists, a DEWA power factor calculator, busbar and MCCB checks, with Word, Excel and PDF exports.
Panel handover is where problems surface if nobody checked earlier - eight structured checklists mean nothing gets signed off on memory.
Track testing and commissioning from first energisation to handover, with witness records and a printable report.
Testing and commissioning paperwork is usually reconstructed after the fact from memory - this tracks it live, system by system, so the report writes itself.
MEN earthing, RCD requirements, protection, isolation and bathroom zones explained for Australian and New Zealand practice.
AS/NZS 3000 is dense and easy to misquote on site - built as searchable practice notes and diagrams for common wiring topics.
Compare cable against busbar on cost, with copper price variation, containment allowances and installed rates.
Cable vs busbar decisions get made on gut feeling more often than they should - this puts real cost data behind the choice.
Look up devices by brand, range and rating, and track variations against the contract scope using your own quoted prices.
Variations get disputed because nobody can prove what was quoted vs installed - a live price and variation record settles it.
What each test instrument measures, how to use it safely and what the reading actually tells you.
Test instruments get misused when engineers only see them once a year - a simulator lets you practice the reading before it matters on site.
Compare the authority requirements across the UAE, Australia and New Zealand, with a project readiness check.
Working across UAE, NZ and Australia means three different rulebooks in your head at once - this collapses them into one place.
Thirty modules, fifteen calculators and thirty-eight drawings covering earthing, bonding, IEEE 80 grids and lightning protection.
Earthing and lightning protection design spans dozens of scattered standards and calculations - this brings the IEEE 80 step/touch/grid resistance math, drawings and standards into one portal engineers can actually work through.
Generator sizing, step loads, fuel runtime, transfer schemes and the tests that prove them.
Generators fail to start when it matters because the AMF sequence was never actually tested - this lets you rehearse it before commissioning day.
UPS topologies, battery sizing, autonomy, room ventilation and the maintenance that keeps autonomy real.
UPS sizing mistakes surface as a blackout months later - this exists so runtime and redundancy math gets checked at design time, not after.
Which standard governs what, across IEC, BS EN, NFPA and AS/NZS, with compliance workflows for each discipline.
Standards get half-remembered and half-applied on busy sites - a searchable register plus an actual IEC 61439 verification workflow closes that gap.
Calculators across electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire fighting, with editable inputs and the working shown.
Seventy-six scattered spreadsheets across trades is how errors creep in - this consolidates them into one consistent, downloadable toolbox.
Ask in plain words. It finds the right lab and tab, answers from the reference libraries and runs the calculation in 2D, 3D and 4D.
Junior engineers need a second pair of eyes that's always available - describe the load in plain language and get a transparent, checkable calculation back.
Tray sizing, fill, spare capacity, supports and segregation, with 2D and 3D layouts.
Containment gets under-sized when it's an afterthought - automatic tray/ladder sizing against real cable inventory catches that before installation.
Thousands of engineering questions and answers across design, site and commissioning, searchable by trade and stage.
3,166 questions means someone doesn't have to ask the same thing twice - a searchable knowledge bank across every discipline on this site, leveled for where you are in your career.
String sizing against cold Voc and hot Vmp, inverter limits, roof loading and grid connection checks.
Solar PV is new territory for a lot of MEP engineers - this walks through string sizing, routing and field faults the way a mentor would.
Service coordination and clash detection with clearance rules, priority logic and reroute options in 3D.
Clashes found on-site cost far more than clashes found in the model - a real spatial engine plus a BIM coordination primer for teams still building that habit.
Timed practice exams for DEWA, SEWA, Abu Dhabi, EtihadWE, AS/NZS 3000, NZ EWRB and CPEng readiness.
Exam guides: DEWA, Abu Dhabi, SEWA, EtihadWE (FEWA), Australia, NZ EWRB, CPEng.
Authority and registration exams are where good engineers lose months to a resit - sit a realistic timed paper, see exactly why each answer is right, and walk in knowing your weak topics.
Build specification sections for electrical and building services, with options, standards and export to Word.
Writing a tender specification from an old project file means hours of find-and-replace and outdated standards slipping through - answer a few questions and start from a clean, current, project-neutral document instead.
Central battery systems and emergency lighting: battery sizing, autonomy, circuit voltage drop and a submittal checklist.
Emergency lighting is checked once at handover and then forgotten - this lab makes the autonomy, battery and voltage-drop math visible before the submittal is approved.
Six linked design labs on one page: jurisdiction rules, cooling load, cable and breaker sizing, IEEE 80 earthing and drainage.
Trades are usually sized in separate spreadsheets that never talk to each other - here the fan from the HVAC load becomes the feeder, the cable becomes the tray and the condensate becomes the drain.
IEC 61439 design and routine verification, FAT certificate, fault level, curve study, discrimination, temperature rise and internal arc.
Design an MDB, MCC or distribution board with live single line, front GA, 3D model, 4D assembly sequence and 5D cost.

KNX, DALI and home automation protocols, control strategies and the commissioning that proves them.
Home automation gets specified without anyone testing the actual control logic - this lets you drive a virtual system before committing to hardware.
BMS architecture, controllers, field devices, point schedules and practical commissioning reference.
BMS points lists and sequences are usually buried in someone else's spreadsheet - a field reference that's actually built for the person on site.
Security system architecture, access control, intrusion detection and the interfaces to fire and BMS.
Security system design keeps getting treated as an afterthought to electrical - this gives CCTV and access control the same rigor.
