Electrical Design Tools & UAE Regulations Reference

Cable & Breaker Selector (DEWA) + Independent Regulations Reference (DEWA / SEWA / Abu Dhabi / EtihadWE)
Selector tools reference DEWA Appendices 5, 9 & 10 (cable, ECC & RCD sizing tables).
Regulations tab is an independently written summary, not a reproduction of any authority's clause text.

Cable, Breaker & Load Selector

Direct lookup from DEWA Appendix 5 (Tables 1–3) - set any one value and the matching cable size, MCB/MCCB rating and max load current follow, per the standard selection table. Not a calculated/interpolated value - DEWA's tables are discrete rows, so results snap to the nearest listed size. ECC (Appendix 9) is derived from the selected phase conductor size.

Load kW → DEWA Cable & Breaker Selection

Enter the connected/design load. The tool converts kW to current and then selects the next suitable row from the active DEWA Appendix 5 cable/breaker table. The selected table above remains the governing cable type.

RCD / ELCB operating current - Appendix 10

Recommended operating current by circuit/equipment type. Match this to whatever circuit the cable/breaker above is feeding.

Notes carried over from Appendix 5:
  1. Assess initial demand with safe diversity and anticipated future demand before finalising cable size and breaker rating.
  2. Assess individual fault levels and select MCB/MCCB accordingly - this table does not account for fault-current withstand.
  3. Refer to manufacturer catalogues for specific applications, considering inductive/capacitive loads, laying conditions, voltage drop and correction factors (grouping, ambient, depth of burial).

DEWA Electrical Design Tools & UAE Wiring Reference

Explore UAE electrical design tools for loads, cables, breakers and protection, with DEWA reference notes and practical engineering checks.

Topics you can explore

  • DEWA cable sizing
  • Electrical load calculation UAE
  • UAE wiring regulations

Practical engineering example

For a three-phase load, start with supply voltage, power factor and demand. Use the design tool to explore cable and breaker selection, then verify the authority basis.
