Load Schedule Auditor & Phase Balancer
Drop in the Excel load schedule you are about to submit. The tool finds every board in the workbook, checks breakers against cable sizes, RCD protection on sockets, phase totals and feeder figures, then suggests which circuits to swap so each DB balances inside its own RCD groups.
1. Load your schedule
.xlsx or .xls. Keep all the boards in one workbook if you can, so feeder rows can be checked against the boards they feed.
Settings and rule tables (the defaults are fine for most DEWA schedules)
Final circuits: MCB vs minimum cable ?
| MCB A | CCT mm² | ECC mm² |
|---|
Ring circuits (marked RING in remarks):
Feeders and DB incomers: breaker vs cable ?
| Breaker A | Multicore | Single core | ECC |
|---|
What it checks
- 1Phase balance per DB in amps, with the neutral current drawn on a phasor diagram.
- 2Breaker vs cable and ECC on every final circuit, feeder and DB incomer.
- 3Load in the wrong phase column, 3-phase circuits loaded on one phase, SPACE ways that carry load, repeated circuit names.
- 4Socket circuits on 100 mA RCDs and circuits loaded past their MCB.
- 5Totals rows against the circuits above them, and SMDB feeder rows against the boards they feed.
- 6A project tree and revision compare: MDB → SMDB → DB built for you, and a board-by-board diff between two schedules.
- 7A swap list that balances each DB without crossing RCD groups. Download it with the full audit as Excel.
This is a checking aid. It reads what is written in the sheet and does not replace the designer's calculations or the authority's review.
Generate a new load schedule (.xlsx)
A ready-to-fill Excel workbook with live formulas: points matrix, phase loads, currents, unbalance, cable checks, demand factors, and every board's totals linked up to the SMDB, MDB, riser, LVP and summary sheets. Charts included.
Typical floors builder (any number of floors: 5, 60 or 200+)
Rebuilding replaces only the typical-floor boards. Podium, basement and anything you added by hand stay.
Boards Add, remove or rename boards. "Fed from" sets where each board's totals are carried to.
| Board name | Type | Fed from | Ways / spare rows ? | Incomer A | Phase | Location |

How the checks work
Reading the workbook
Every sheet is scanned for a circuit header (CKT, CIRCUIT). The rows around it tell the tool which columns hold the MCB rating, CCT and ECC sizes, description, ELCB and the R / Y / B load columns. Board name, fed-from and the incomer cable are read from the rows above and below. Several boards stacked on one sheet are handled.
Loads are taken from the per-circuit load columns, never from point counts, so the figures match your own totals.
Phase balance and neutral
- Phase current I = P / (230 V x PF)
- Unbalance = (I max - I avg) / I avg
- Neutral IN = √(IR² + IY² + IB² - IRIY - IYIB - IBIR), same PF on all phases
3-phase circuits written over three rows (20 / AMP / TP) are kept together and never moved.
The balancer
Each DB way keeps its phase. The tool tries swapping the contents of two ways (a circuit with another circuit, or with a SPACE) and keeps the swap that lowers unbalance the most. It repeats until the target is met or no swap helps.
With the RCD option on, swaps only happen inside one ELCB group. Groups come from merged ELCB cells, "ELCB-01" style labels, or the spacing of the mA ratings (shown as approximate).
Cable rules and severities
- Fail: cable two or more sizes under the table, load above the MCB, missing MCB or cable, load in the wrong phase column, SPACE carrying load, 3-phase load on one phase.
- Warning: one size under, small ECC, socket on a 100 mA RCD (BS 7671 411.3.3), unbalance over target, totals or feeder figures that do not match.
- Info: feeder connected load above its breaker (diversity is not applied), unreadable feeder cable text.
